No Plasticized Poo

biobag_dog_flyer[1].jpg

Dog Lady has this persistent bad dream about plastic bags full of mummified dog poop piling up on landfills and concretizing to form a giant monument to our excesses and inabilities to truly clean up after our dogs. Owners are educated about the necessity of picking up after dogs but scooping into plastic bags just seems stupid as it condemns the dung to eternity.

BioBags, made from corn products, quickly degrade on landfills. You can pick up your dog's waste with them. Or you can pop them and serve with butter and salt (Oh, c'mon people, Dog Lady is kidding). Actually, these silky bags feel like buttah.

On green blogs, there is heightened awareness of the need to go emerald when walking the dog. Also, here's a site where you can order dog beds, toys and other accoutrements recycled from plastic bottles. Come to think of it, when Dog Lady's dog was a puppy, the toy he loved best was an empty plastic container.

Bed Manners

Who can dispute the comfort of a dog on the bed? In England, the chief veterinary surgeon has spoken out about the practice and his warning resonates across Europe. Nonetheless, dog lovers say fear of superbugs won't stop them. wyeth.jpg

Cake Walk

A Yorkie, a Labradoodle and a West Highland terrier are all the sweeter when sitting atop a banana cake with caramel buttercream. This cake was designed by Yum Bunnies Cakery. And the sight of this confection caused at least one grown woman (the keeper of the Yorkie and the Labradoodle) to cry with wonder and delight --not because of calories and cholesterol.

Jess and Michelle, the master bakers and designers at Yum Bunnies Cakery, are not as famous as Duff Goldman and the crew at Charm City Cakes but their ten minutes of extreme celebrity will come. Already, Yum Bunnies' cakes star in Hollywood movies, including the upcoming "Pink Panther Deux." And, yes, they ship all over, including Iraq. Yum Bunnies never uses inedible ingredients, such as styrofoam, to construct their towers of flour, butter, sugar. Dog Lady is so impressed, she names Yum Bunnies Cakery as her official sugar shack.
