Speaking In Wags
Dear Dog Lady,
Why do my dog, Cherry (three months old), wag its tail whenever I’m back from work even (when) he is angry?
Unazi, Victoria Island, Nigeria
Unazi, a puppy wagging its tail speaks in the universal language of love. Men fight wars and hold grudges -- not dogs. Dogs wag their tails when their humans get home from work because they’re saying: “Hi! I love you! Gimme somethin'! Hi. Did I tell you I love you? Hi! Gimme somethin' more and messier! C’mon, let’s play! Hi! Don’t just stand there. Pet me, you fool!” Cherry is not angry with you. The dog is happy to see you. Enjoy the spontaneous display of exuberance from the one creature on earth that will always be unreasonably, inexplicably, astonishingly happy to see you -- even when you're not happy to be seen.
